Dural is located approximately 35 kilometres northwest of the Sydney CBD. The first European land grant in the area was made in 1819. For many years this peaceful area was utilised for timber cutting and fruit growing, with the area supplied much of Sydney's produce demand.

The original inhabitants of the Dural area were the Darug people. The name Dural was derived from an Aboriginal word "Dooral Dooral", which means 'a smoking tree'. This is believed to relate to the early settler’s action of burning stumps after logging. The name Dooral first appeared 1817 and originally covered the whole area including present day Glenorie, Galston, Arcadia and Middle Dural.

Dural offers residents a unique combination of residential and rural experience, with close proximity to the conveniences of Sydney’s CBD and easy access via the M2 motorway making it an extremely popular suburb.
